understand the patterns that keep showing up
move beyond self-doubt and second-guessing
reconnect with your values and strengths
make decisions with greater confidence
gain clarity about what you really want
take meaningful steps forward
The following is a guide to how our work may unfold. While there is a structure to the process, the time we spend in each area will be guided by you, your story and what emerges throughout our sessions.
Some areas may need more attention than others. The intention isn't to rush through eight steps, but to create meaningful change around the outcomes that matter most to you.
Session 1 - Personal History, Clarity & Your Outcome
We begin by getting clear on why you've chosen coaching, what you would like to change and what you want instead.
Together, we'll explore your current challenges, any internal conflict or uncertainty, relevant parts of your personal history and what meaningful change would look and feel like for you.
We'll also establish a clear outcome for our work together.
What do you want to achieve - and what needs to change within you for that outcome to feel possible?
Session 2 - Influences That May No Longer Serve You
We are all influenced by the people, environments and experiences around us.
Sometimes beliefs and expectations learned years ago continue influencing how we see ourselves and the choices we make today.
Where appropriate, I draw on Matrix Therapies and NLP to help you recognise those influences and separate what genuinely belongs to you from what you may have learned to carry.
It's about recognising what has shaped you - and giving yourself permission to choose differently now.
Session 3 - Core Emotional Patterns
Our emotions are part of being human, but sometimes an emotional response becomes connected with earlier experiences and continues showing up in the present.
Within Matrix Therapies, we may explore core emotional patterns such as:
Anger
Sadness
Fear
guilt
Rather than judging the emotion, we become curious about where the pattern began, what your mind learned from the experience and whether that learning still serves you today.
The aim isn't to erase emotion.
It's to create greater choice in how you respond.
Session 4 - Related Emotional Patterns
From there, we can explore other emotional patterns that may still be affecting you.
These might include worry, frustration, grief, stress, anxiety, overwhelm, needing control or feeling responsible for everyone else.
Your patterns will be unique to you.
Together, we'll look at where they may have begun, what continues to trigger them and whether an old emotional response is still determining how you react today.
Awareness gives us the opportunity to respond differently.
Session 5 - Limiting Decisions & Beliefs
Throughout our lives, experiences can lead us to form conclusions about ourselves.
I'm not good enough.
I have to get it right.
Other people know better than I do.
I can't trust myself.
At the time, those conclusions may have made complete sense. The difficulty comes when a decision made years ago continues influencing the choices you're making today.
Together, we'll explore the limiting beliefs and decisions that may sit underneath areas such as self-worth, confidence, criticism, relationships, success, visibility, decision-making and trusting your own judgement.
A story you've carried for years doesn't automatically have to become a story you carry forever.
Session 6 - Internal Conflicts & Confusion
Sometimes you know what you want, yet still feel unable to move forward.
One part of you wants the opportunity.
Another wants safety.
One part wants change.
Another wants certainty.
In NLP these are often described as Parts.
Rather than deciding one part is right and the other is wrong, we explore the positive intention behind both. Through a process called Parts Integration, we work towards resolving that internal tug-of-war so those competing needs can begin working together.
This can be particularly helpful when you find yourself thinking:
"I know what I need to do. I just can't seem to make myself do it."
Session 7 - Values, Strengths & Your Core Identity
Once we've explored what may have been influencing you, we bring the focus firmly back to who you are.
Together, we'll explore:
your core values
your strengths
what genuinely matters to you
what gives you energy
what feels aligned
the person you want to be moving forward
Comparison asks:
How do I measure up against them?
Self-trust asks:
Who am I, what matters to me and what do I know about myself?
The more deeply you know yourself, the less you need somebody else to continually validate your decisions.
And that's where self-trust begins to grow.
Session 8 - Goals, Direction & Moving Forward
In our final stage, we turn towards what comes next.
We'll revisit the outcome you established at the beginning and reflect on what's changed, what you now understand about yourself and what you want to carry forward.
Together, we'll identify meaningful goals and the actions that will move you towards them - not because they're things you should achieve, but because they align with who you are and what matters to you.
Because confidence isn't always where we start.
Sometimes we start with courage.
We take the step. We build experience. Experience builds competence, and over time confidence follows.
Each time you follow through for yourself, you create another piece of evidence that says:
I can trust myself.
This may be for you if…
- know you're capable but continue to doubt yourself
- spend too much time second-guessing decisions
- compare yourself with others and lose sight of your own strengths
- feel stuck despite knowing something needs to change
- recognise patterns you don't want to keep repeating
- want greater clarity, confidence and trust in yourself
You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what's wrong or having the perfect goal.
Sometimes the first step is simply knowing:
I don't want to keep doing it this way.
From second-guessing to self-trust
This work isn't about becoming fearless or never doubting yourself again.
It's about understanding yourself more deeply, recognising the patterns that have been holding you back and becoming increasingly able to trust your own judgement.
To know what matters to you.
To back yourself.
To take the next step before you have absolute certainty.
